Birds on a Wire Slot
Whoever invented and designed Birds on a Wire slot is probably a genius. It’s just so creative, colourful and unique that you can’t not admire the person behind it. But it is a great slot that soon will become everyone’s favourite? I seriously doubt that.
With low payouts during the regular play and rare free spins, Birds on a Wire completely misses its otherwise enormous potential. And I’m saying that despite my love to Thunderkick slots and the generous 97.2% return. Of course that’s just my personal opinion and would love to be proven wrong.
Design and Symbols
I recommend that you just take a quick look at the video below to see how it works, but just in few words. The theme of this slot is literally about Birds on a Wire. The wires replace the rows and instead of spinning the reels, the birds just fly to the screen and sit on the wires.
They symbols are set in the common 3×5 formation and there is an unusual number of pay lines, 17 to be exact.
When you win, the birds in the winning combination get electrocuted (it’s doesn’t look as bad as it sounds :-)) and replaced by new ones – so called Dropping or Collapsing symbols.
The main bonus features of Birds on a Wire slot are the Free Spins, High Voltage Multipliers, Infinity Spin and the previously mentioned dropping symbols. These features are not new and can be found in a number of slots, such as Thunderkick’s Esqueleto Explosivo (which you can play here for free) and WMS famous World of Oz slot.
Dropping Symbols + Multiplier: as we said, symbols in any winning combination disappear and replaced by new ones. Each time it happens, the multiplier goes one level higher: x1, x2, x3 and x5. I have to admit that I rarely reached x5 multiplier and my biggest win during the regular play was only x35.
To activate the free spins you need to get 3 or more scattered Mystery birds anywhere on the reels. You will be given 10 spins and 2 additional spins for every scatter above 3. During the free spins, the multiplier levels increase and become quite rewarding: x4, x8, x12 and x20. In the end of the free spins, you will be given one Infinity spin, which means that you will get to spin until you win.
The Free spins bonus can really get you some nice wins. Unfortunately, they are very hard to reach.
Birds on a Wire Slot – Bottom Line
Great idea, poor execution. Despite the high RTP and frequent payouts, Birds on a Wire slot low paytable got me tired from hitting spin after spin, waiting for those free spins. That’s quite disappointing cause Thunderkick do know how to make great slots, just take a look at Arcader or Friut Warp.
